The Web's FREE Folk Dance Registry!

List your dances!

... you could choose to put your group's repertoire here, or some other special announcement.

Folk dance groups from around the world

Our specialty

FREE listings for any and all folk dance clubs.

Our directory

Crescent City International Dancers
folkdancers.net/ccid

... and that's it: only one group so far -- ours.

Our plans

We hope that this site will become a convenient place to list your group. The listing will look something like what you see at our group's listing, but perhaps not quite so complicated. We will do what we can, we're still working on it.

Charges

While ordinary listings are FREE, we may ask for a donation with each submission or change, equal to the cost of one session with your group. If your group is free, we would appreciate the cost of say, a loaf of bread. Or perhaps you might contribute creative services, like graphics, images, animations, MP3's or Midi files, or just your ideas. Donations will be used to defray costs. We don't expect to make a profit, your WebScribe has enjoyed dancing for 30 years, which could well be payment enough. But feel free to surprise us!

For those who would like to have their own web site in this domain, we could provide very low cost services at an address like this:

folkdancers.net/your-group-name

This could save you a few dollars a year, and we could all benefit from sharing efforts, like working for good search engine exposure.

How to join

If this interests you, please send an email to Reggie Dawes, at webscribe@XXXfolkdancers.net (but first, remove the anti-spam XXX's!)

Please include details about what you would want in your listing. The Bolded topics you see on our group's listing could serve as a guide, but what else should be in there? Your teachers and their bios? Your usual annual festivals? Please send your own ideas.

When we will start

When I get a dozen or so requests, I will proceed to build the site.

How it will work, special features

Your WebScribe will build a form that will automatically create your group's individual page. We will examine and edit your entries if needed, and post your page for approval.

Separate index pages will also be automatically generated. (Curious? Your WebScribe did this for a paying customer, a society of plastics colorists.) A site search engine  for keywords, specific dances, and teachers will be provided, and a page for user-submitted special links, guest-book style. Sound good? Join us -- apply today!

What else is on your wish list? Lists of festivals, teachers, musicians, guided tours, non-protected MP3 files, dance descriptions? What about a hit parade, where we gather statistics of just what dances are being done around the world?

Here's a bit of work you can do that is essential to the success of FolkDancers.Net: ask your Webmaster to link to us.
